Book Review

I recently borrowed this book, Twelve Clean Pages, from a friend, and last night I finished it.
This memoir was written by a women who attends our church (never met her). It is such an incredible story. I truly wish I could buy 20 copies and give them to loved ones! Nika Maples suffered from Lupus from the age of 12, and at the age of 20 suffered a stroke that left her a quadriplegic. Despite a grim prognosis, Nika recovered her abilities to walk and talk. She became a high school English teacher and eventually won the Texas state teacher of the year award. In all her trials and successes, Nika strove to serve the Lord and bring glory to Him. I read a lot of books, but this was definitely a favorite for me. Nika most definitely has a talent for writing in a unique, beautiful way. I highly recommend it!

Faces

This is kind of mean, but I love Graham's look when he first wakes up. His checks are rosy, his hair is ruffled, and he's all confused. I just had to capture it on camera, just this once.
Last night we ate BBQ chicken. Graham really liked it! He ate almost a whole piece of chicken. He really likes any kind of sauce like that.
His hands were even worse. Needless to say, I ran a bath as soon as we were done.

Choo Choo

This past weekend Chad and I had our first weekend training in preparation to move to Uganda. We found out about it only two weeks before it started! My parents, our usual babysitters, were busy so we were really having a hard time finding someone to watch the little guy. Luckily, Chad's mom agreed to come for an emergency visit to babysit all weekend. Thank you, Paula!

I got to spend most of the day Friday with Graham and Paula. We took Graham to the park and then decided to ride the Trinity Park Train, which we've never done before. Graham was a little nervous at first but ended up loving it! It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun.
Graham's mouth was full of crackers when I took this picture. :)

A Boy and His Dog....Part 2

Yesterday I heard some noises in our bathroom so I immediately went to check it out. Here's what I saw:
You just wouldn't believe how much these two love each other!

Play Group Photos

I love our play group! This past week we had everyone over to our house to play.

Here's Wyatt, Graham, and Jaxon:
Hi Macy! Poor Macy, she's the only girl in our group!
All of Graham's cars and trucks were a big hit! Jaxon and Wyatt:

Cute Things Graham Does

Just some things I don't want to forget....

  • One time we walked by some rosemary and I showed Graham how to bend over and smell its wonderful fragrance. When we're walking, he now often bends over and sniffs various bushes and plants.
  • Last week Graham came running in the front door (I was about to water my flowers) with a bunch of flowers in his fist and a clump of dirt and roots hanging down.
  • Graham calls the stuffed dog he sleeps with "Razz," which is our dog's name.
  • On Monday night we went to hear my mom's choir group sing. Graham played and looked at books. At a quiet moment, Graham said, "giraffe!" loudly.
  • Graham loves to spot birds. At the zoo, he was just as excited to see a normal everyday bird as he was about any other animal.
  • Graham wakes up happy every morning asking for his Dada. :)
